Drastic Technologies Releases DrasticScope Version 8 at NAB 2025 Booth SL 10919
Signal Analysis for Engineers, Broadcast/Production, and Creative/Color
We have stepped up our scopes game with the addition of important new displays and features. Version 8 provides one install for all levels. Licensing provides for workflow specific tool sets. There is also a free version for basic camera/lighting setup and training purposes. New features include:
- New range of industry standard scopes including YCbCr Vector, Channel Plot, Y/C Peak, Luma Peak, and 6 Bar Gamut - Free version for students and basic signal validation, features 2up layout, with Picture, Vectorscope, YCbCr waveform, and RGB waveform. - Optional test pattern generator provides over 100 test patterns and can be combined with an install of DrasticScope for an end to end testing and calibration system - Proc Amp Setup for USB/DirectShow devices - AvVr3D ScopeDirect plugin for scopes in your UnReal Engine environment - DekTec hardware support - SRT, RTP, UDP, and RIST stream analysis in NetXScope
The world's most advanced software scope
We provide the most signal analysis features of any software scope, rivalling the best hardware scopes in the industry. Aside from the normal vectorscope/waveform/histogram/etc., our scopes provide advanced features like: ancillary data monitoring and decoding, multichannel audio loudness / surround / db monitoring, closed caption detection and decoding, chromaticity (601/709/P3/2020), audio wave/vector/phase/histogram, audio routing, MaxFALL/MaxCLL, out of range video levels, raw pixel view, and event capture with TOD and TC. We also provide multiple picture testing/analysis/views, true multiplatform deployment, remote desktop, and direct web/html acccess/configuration. Â
Download the Scope and See for Yourself
To see the software in action, ask for us at NAB 2025 at booth #SL10919! We are happy to set up a demo and show off our scopes.
You can also go to the product page and download a demo. Running the software should provide an automated option to request a trial license. Go to DrasticScope.com to see what our waveform/vectorscope software can do for you.

The YCbCr Vector scope plots the Y vs. Cb/Cr in the upper half and inverted Y vs. Cb/Cr in the lower half. The user can select between 75% marks and 100% marks, to provide a target for the primaries where a camera is looking at color bars or similar test pattern.

 |
 |
Channel Plot indicates pure black where the two diamonds join in the center of the display. If the black is not dark enough then the trace starts above the bottom of the top Diamond and below the top of the bottom diamond. If there is a color cast to the black, the trace is skewed off center. A perfectly monochromatic (i.e. black and white) signal of the full contrast range or voltage range of video will display as a perfect vertical line.

The Y/C Peak window shows all three channels in composite mode, and the relative strength of the levels from 100% on the left to 0 at the right. This display shows luminance as a function of the sum of the R, G, and B channels, so the user can confirm the signal levels are legal and valid.

The Luma Peak shows the color saturation and color value or lightness combined with RGB gamut limits. This allows a colorist to adjust live video signals in the HSV (Hue, Saturation, Value) space within the valid signal gamut range. This triangle represents Lightness with black at the bottom right corner of the triangle and white at the bottom left corner. The vertical axis represents chroma levels. Value increases up along the left side, and Saturation increases along the right side.

The 6 Bar Gamut shows gamut levels for YCbCr and RGB modes. Equivalent values are created depending on the current setup.
|
 |
 |
The Audio Spectrum scope shows a stereo or mono audio signal as an entire spectrum with the strength at each value represented by the height of its bar. The spectrum can be finely divided, or coarsely, and there are a number of scale settings, such as Hann, Bartlett, Welch, Blackman, Flat Top and more.

The Test Pattern Generator option provides access to over 100 customizable test patterns for system setup. Various elements can be added to customize the test pattern including blips, moving elements, audio tones, and more.
