DDR Software Add Ons

This area contains legacy material from previous Drastic Technologies websites. It is provided for reference only, and contains information, products and links that may no longer exist and which are no longer supported by Drastic.

Originally Drastic DDRs could be purchased with full featured software, or with a base software and a la carte options.  The original options were the Advanced File Format Option, the Network Control Option and the AutoProxy Option.  The functionality of these options has been integrated into Drastic's current line of products, and expanded on.

Advanced File Format Option

The Advanced File Format option for QuickClip provides extended direct read/write file format support for uncompressed video boards.  Bluefish444, AJA, and DVS boards support AVI, QuickTime Movie and Windows Media uncompressed file formats.  The advanced file format option adds support for series of stills and directly editable streams.  The additional formats are:

Network Control Option

This option provides both HTTP and direct TCP/IP access to QuickClip software.  Multiple channel status, media lists, setup information and fill transport control is available using even the most basic browser.  For Java enabled systems, an in-browser Java control surface provides real time access and status from QuickClip anywhere on the network where your system is available.  For complete control, this option includes standalone Java based controllers for macOS, Linux and Windows platforms.  For other platforms a downloadable JAR file may be used with the local Java interpreter.

AutoProxy Option

The QuickClip AutoProxy option allows the fastest, highest quality conversion conversion of live or recorded material in HD or SD standards.  AutoProxy was developed in conjunction with Microsoft to support high quality capture of Windows Media 9 high definition video.  It has since been expanded to support MPEG-1/2 encoding for content management systems, SVCD or DVD dallies output. Due to the high processor requirements of any HD encoder system, it is not possible to encode the video in high quality real time.  AutoProxy records an uncompressed copy of the incoming media on a local drive and, while it is being recorded, compresses it to a streaming format.  With most compression tools the file must complete recording before the encode may begin.  This wastes the duration of the video to be recorded.  By encoding while recording and keeping an uncompressed version of the video, the AutoProxy option can maintain quality, save time and produce high quality multiple pass outputs.
