Metadata, Information and Asset Management

chip metaMediaReactor and MediaReactor Workstation provide tools to read and convert XML and even re-write metadata in media files.  The metadata can be made available to asset management and other tools via an exported XML, standard sidebar files, or by the program directly opening the file using MediaReactor Workstation plugins. Picture icon and closed caption extraction is also supported.

MRMetaData

MRMetaData is a command line program that comes with MediaReactor Workstation.  MRMetaData opens a media file and extracts any metadata it can from the media file.  This includes file, audio and video information like width, height, frame rate, bitrate, compressor, audio channels, audio frequency, audio bits and other fixed elements.  For most file formats, metadata that can be set by the user like description, copyright, owner, producer, artist, edit information, and over one hundred other elements are also extracted.  This information is saved in a standard XML file, extended from the Dublin Core Metadata Element Set.  MRMetaData can also extract audio, closed captioning (to AAF, MCC and SCC), JPG images for any frame or every X frame, and make reference movies.

MediaReactor Workstation

MediaReactor Workstation provides the same access to metadata as MRMetaData above, but it also gives access to the metadata from Adobe, Apple, Assimilate, Avid, QuickTime and DirectShow applications.  The metadata shows up internally in the applications where it can be used to search, link and identify both full and generated proxy media.  MediaReactor also includes the MRMetaData utility for extracting metadata to XML, SCC, MCC and JPG files.

MRFix

MRFix is a command line utility that can modify ARI, DPX and CINE files in place.  Time code and userbits can be set in all types.  ARI also supports exposure, frame rate, black and white level, gamma, white balance, r/g/b offsets and reel/take/description/etc.  CINE also supports frame rate, and vertical/horizontal flip.

DTMediaRead SDK/API

The DTMediaRead SDK/API allows third party applications to access all the metadata from supported media files that MediaReactor supports.  DTMediaRead also provides access to the video and audio data within the file, as uncompressed PCM audio and either RGBA, YCbCr or codec native video data.  DTMediaRead uses the same access methods as MediaReactor and Drastic DDR for faster than real time access to the audio and video media via a Direct API.
