Features

Test Pattern Generator provides a comprehensive software test pattern suite for setup and calibration of video production workflows. It is an attractive add-on to our DrasticScope signal analysis tools, but it can also be useful as a standalone test pattern generator for your production or facility.

Overlays

On top of the video output, you can overlay a watermark, add text overlay, insert audio sync markers, add a video sync frame, add frame markers, overlay time code, and/or overlay a QR code which offers details about the setup and performance of the test pattern in transit. There is also a bouncing balls overlay, to provide motion in any of the otherwise static patterns.

Audio Output

Audio can be sent along with the test pattern. User configurable audio tones include a Sine Wave and a Square Wave. There are also white noise, pink noise, and channel pattern beep options. Test and calibrate your audio/video synchronization with audio sync tones and a sync frame marker. AV Sync markers can be aligned between all output channels. AV Sync patterns from other manufacturers, like Tektronix, Lynx Technik, Bridge Technologies, and Sarnoff are supported as well.

Closed Caption Ouput

A closed caption file can be loaded and will play over the test pattern, great for checking that the CC is valid and displays correctly. The starting time code location can also be set by the user.

Multiple Channel Support

Video setup is per-channel, so a multiple channel system can output various video sizes/frame rates, etc.

"Board" Types

Supported output types include Fullscreen, ScopeDirect AvVr3D for UnReal Engine, AJA, Bluefish444, Blackmagic, and Matrox hardware, NDI Network Digital Interface for local network targets, ST-2110 (requires capable hardware and third party products), and RTP/UDP/SRT/RIST IP streams.

Multi Views

Test Pattern Generator supports loading multiple patterns at the same time. Looking at a Test Pattern Generator multi view in DrasticScope, you can set the line select to view whichever one tests the parameters you need to confirm.

Technical

Output

Fullscreen - send the output to a screen on the desktop. Useful to get a close look at patterns on your system.
ScopeDirect -  (AvVr3D) – ScopeDirect plugin for UnReal Engine. Send test patterns into UnReal Engine for camera and lighting setup.
Aja – AJA board installed in the system.
BlueFish – Bluefish444 board installed in the system.
BlackMagic – Blackmagic board installed in the system.
Matrox – Matrox board installed in the system.
NDI – send out the test patterns via NDI for local network use.
SMPTE2110 – send out the test patterns as an ST-2110 stream or streams, for remote workflows. Requires special setup and environment.
RTP/UDP/SRT/RIST - send out test patterns via IP

Video Channel / Display

Select between channels in a multichannel system. When set to desktop fullscreen output, lets the user select between screens.

Frame Type

Interlaced – send alternating even, then odd, numbered lines of a frame as fields.
Progressive – send whole frames at once, reading the lines from top to bottom.
Segmented Frame – send PsF frames as output.

Test Pattern Generator installs in demo mode, with limited functionality. To unlock the full feature set of the software you will need at least a temp license. On first run there should be an automated option to obtain a temp license for testing.
