Legacy MCI VTR Control

Windows MCI VTR Driver

Throughout the early 1990s, Drastic supplied the Windows MCI VTR control driver as an OEM product to companies such as Matrox, HP, Microsoft and many others.  This product is no longer available as an MCI driver, but is part of External VTR Control for Windows/macOS/Linux.

Windows MCI VTR Driver

Version 4.5 Has Been Released!!!

Before Drastic developed the VVCR, it created a set of OEM VTR drivers. Drastic's drivers have been used for custom control applications in Visual C/C++, Borland C, Visual Basic and have been licensed to Hewlett Packard, Matrox Electronics, Sigma Designs and Zapex to name a few. The Windows MCI driver supports Windows 3.x, Windows 95 and Window NT 4.0 providing frame accurate control of 50 broadcast level VTRs (including the VVCR) as well as any other Sony/SMPTE protocol compatible device.

The Windows MCI VTR driver is available from Drastic on a per copy basis, or as a blanket license. Driver installation and accessory programs are also included.

Drastic MCI-VCR Driver for Windows 3.1/95/NT demonstration version. The demonstration version of the driver is available free for evaluation. This version of the driver includes a reminder screen and operation timeout that are not included in the Developer and End User versions.
